Raspberry pi2 and pi3 wallet setup

  • first id like to say i've never written a guide before so i hope this is easy to follow and helps some people out

    download raspberian from https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/
    write image to sd card
    boot up the pi

open a terminal and you will see pi@raspberrypi:~ $

paste this command in and hit enter
    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
when asked hit y and enter to continue
this will take a little while just wait till
    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ pops up again

close terminal and reboot the pi

we need to add a source, open a terminal
    and paste in this command
    sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
uncomment the last line (remove the # )
    and paste this below it
deb http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi

these should be the last 2 lines now
    deb-src http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/ stretch main contrib non-free rpi
deb http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi

hit control + o and then hit enter to save
then hit control + x to get back to the terminal
and paste in sudo apt-get update

    go to https://bitrad.io/
    download Pi3 Raspbian - QT
you will have a file called Bitradio-Qt-Daemon-rpi3-V1000.zip in your downloads forder
right click on the file and choose extract here

open another terminal and change to the downloads directory with cd ~/Downloads
you should have 2 terminals open now.
    one with pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads $
    and one with pi@raspberrypi:~ $

in the new terminal (pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads $)
paste chmod +x Bitradiod and hit enter then chmod +x Bitradio-qt and hit enter
this will change the files permissions to be executable

in this same terminal paste in ./Bitradiod
    and you see an error
./Bitradiod: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.55.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

not 100% sure if all the following is needed i copied this from another fourm and cant find where i got it but it was on fixing the missing library
in the other terminal (pi@raspberrypi:~ $ ) paste the following all together not separate lines
    sudo wget http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openssl/libssl1.0.0_1.0.1t-1+deb8u6_armhf.deb
    wget http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openssl/libssl1.0.0_1.0.1t-1%2Bdeb8u7_armhf.deb
    sudo spkg -i libssl1.0.0_1.0.1t-1%2Bdeb8u7_armhf.deb
    sudo dpkg -i libssl1.0.0_1.0.1t-1%2Bdeb8u7_armhf.deb
    wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/b/boost1.55/libboost-system1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb && wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/b/boost1.55/libboost-filesystem1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb && wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/b/boost1.55/libboost-thread1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb && wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/b/boost1.55/libboost-program-options1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb && sudo dpkg -i libboost-system1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb && sudo dpkg -i libboost-filesystem1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb && sudo dpkg -i libboost-thread1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb && sudo dpkg -i libboost-program-options1.55.0_1.55.0+dfsg-3_armhf.deb
    wget http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openssl/libssl1.0.0_1.0.1t-1+deb8u6_armhf.deb

if another line pops up just hit enter again
i got an error on this part
    --2018-02-26 20:41:59-- http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openssl/libssl1.0.0_1.0.1t-1+deb8u6_armhf.deb

    but its safe to ignore

    in the downloads terminal(pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads $)
    try ./Bitradiod again
and you will see a diffrent error

./Bitradiod: error while loading shared libraries: libdb_cxx-5.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

so now we need to get the other library
    in the other terminal (pi@raspberrypi:~ $ )
    sudo apt-get install libssl1.0.0
sudo apt-get install checkinstall subversion git git-core build-essential
    hit y when asked
    sudo apt-get install libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev
    hit y when asked
    sudo apt-get install libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev
    hit y when asked
    sudo apt-get install libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev

this should fix the second error we got, to check
    in the downloads terminal(pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads $)
    try ./Bitradiod again
it will look like it froze but just leave it

    you will get another error
Error: To use Bitradiod, you must set a rpcpassword in the configuration file:
It is recommended you use the following random password:
(you do not need to remember this password)
The username and password MUST NOT be the same.
If the file does not exist, create it with owner-readable-only file permissions.
    It is also recommended to set alertnotify so you are notified of problems;
    for example: alertnotify=echo %s | mail -s "Bitradio Alert" admin@foo.com

ignore this because it means everything worked but is not set up

    close all terminals and reboot

    go to the downloads folder
    double click on Bitradio-qt

and when prompted select execute and the graphical wallet will open and start syncing

congragulations you now have a bitradio wallet on a pi

ive set this up on a pi2 and a pi3 the instructions are the same

if anyone finds this useful and wants to give me a tip my bro address is BboMtSpCuYsQzbtgnr9nLMkUdVHALvAX3F

  • I'll use your guide today and let you know if it works.
